How to Spend Your Free Time During the Zombie Apocalypse

Surviving the zombie apocalypse isn’t all about running and hiding from zombies. If you happen to find a secure hiding spot, you’ll have a lot of down time to fill. Without television, texting, and the internet to keep us busy, we’ll have to find other ways to occupy our time.

Sure, some of us can sit around and sing in front of a campfire like Beth Greene, but we don’t all have angelic singing voices. More importantly, we’re not all going to have a luxurious prison in which to hunker down when the zombies attack. Everyone knows that zombies are attracted to noise, and you don’t want to be caught making a racket while there are zombies in the vicinity.

While you aren’t running from zombies, you might want to partake in the following activities in your free time:

Activity One: Make your own weapons. You should try to get creative with this. Once all of the bullets are used and the knives are solidly lodged in the brains of zombies, you’ll have to start thinking outside the box with weapons manufacturing. You can collect the lids of canned foods. The edges are sharp, and they can be used as throwing stars. Or you can attach them to a club, creating a makeshift morning-star-like weapon.

Activity Two: Keep a journal. If you survive, you may be able to publish it after the humans reclaim the planet. Some of the best zombie books are written in diary format, so a journal that covers the real zombie apocalypse will surely be popular.  And, heaven forbid, if you don’t survive the wrath of the zombies, your story will live on through your journal.

Activity Three:  Try to exercise as much as possible. Cardio is obviously important, because you’ll be doing a lot of running from zombies. Strength training is also important. Push-ups, sit-ups, and pull-ups are all great ways to keep fit without having to go to the gym.

Activity four: Hooking up with other survivors. Why not? It’s the end of the world, and you might not live to see tomorrow, so live it up! But be safe. No one wants to end up like Lori Grimes.

Remember that it’s important to always be aware of your surroundings. Even when everything seems quiet, there are sure to be zombies lurking nearby. Be safe, and try to enjoy your free time.
